Senior Project Manager- Aerospace

Summary/Purpose:
This position will be responsible for supporting TechSolve’s defense and aerospace business by participating in the delivery of TechSolve services to defense and aerospace organizations. Service delivery will consist of assisting client companies in finding and incorporating the most effective ways for an organization to use the concepts of Lean Manufacturing, Enterprise Transformation and Lean-Pathways® as well as best practices in Supplier Development, Supply Chain Performance Improvement and Advanced Machining. The Senior Project Manager has the responsibility of gaining the confidence of the client organization during the delivery process and act as a “change agent” in the course of delivery to encourage improvement, ensure the success of projects, and be alert for additional business opportunities. Business development responsibilities also include working with the aerospace and defense Program Manager to interact with aerospace company, military, and defense agency personnel to identify needs and business opportunities, design programs to meet these needs and develop defense and aerospace business proposals.
Essential Responsibilities:

Assure the overall success of services provided to clients. Build and maintain confidence of client organizations by exposing and educating them on best management practices and modern technologies and their uses. Prepare and present briefings and reports to top management personnel at client companies. Effectively interface with client personnel at all organizational levels. Manage project teams to meet client expectations.

Assist aerospace and defense Program Manager with identifying and recruiting clients for assistance services. Prepare or provide input to proposals, project plans, and project reports.

Establish and control project budgets. Ensure projects are on schedule and meet customer expectations. Consult with Leadership and other team members to resolve any problems or to discuss progress of projects. Make presentations to review status of projects as appropriate. Assess results of completed client engagements and recommend effective improvements in methods or course materials. Provide timely internal reports to management (timecards, expense reports monthly project reports, and quarterly reports).

Serve as instructor for courses that teach companies how to assess and identify their own needs and opportunities.

Investigate operations, develop and provide suggested solutions to organizational, production, and related problems at client manufacturing operations. Conduct technical evaluation and provide technical support to clients to assist them with integration of Lean Manufacturing and Enterprise Transformation techniques.

Develop effective working relationships with staff. Proactively communicate work activities and customer and stakeholder contacts with rest of TechSolve organization.

Maintain active awareness of manufacturing technologies and best business practices through professional development and seminar attendance. Look for ways to apply innovative approaches, as appropriate, in the projects undertaken.

Additional Requirements/Qualifications
Education/Experience:
Engineering or Operations-related Business Degree (MBA preferred). Five years or more supervisory/management experience in aerospace, military, or manufacturing-related industry.
Proficiency in software applications required in the performance of job duties (MS Office, AutoCAD, Simulation tools). Hands-on experience with Lean Manufacturing a must – Kaizen events, Value Stream Mapping, Pull Systems, Supplier Development etc.
Language Skills:
Must be able to communicate effectively with client personnel and employees at all organizational levels and develop effective working relationships with staff and a network of technical resources. This includes making presentations, serving as an instructor, serving as an executive-level coach or facilitator and presenting timely reports to management.
Reasoning Ability:
Requires the ability to exercise independent, sound judgment and discretion; have problem solving skills; be able to plan; be well organized; have excellent oral and written communication skills; work well under pressure; take initiative; and be flexible and cooperative.
Physical Demands:
Position requires the ability to actively lead teams in a manufacturing or administrative environment or present and facilitate for long periods at a time. Significant walking, standing, and bending are required. Position occasionally requires long periods of time working at a computer.
Work Environment:
Position requires significant travel by aircraft and automobile to remote locations as needed, and the ability to drive/operate an automobile. Travel occurs during the work week whenever possible, but occasional weekend travel is required. Working hours are based on the requirements of the client and/or project with overtime as required.
