New Organizational Structure Expands Market Growth - P|I Global

Company Profile: P|I Global manufactures custom-designed trade show exhibits and participates in the fabrication of permanent environments such as technical training centers, museums, and sports halls of fame.

Project: P|I Global’s management contracted with TechSolve to assist in developing world-class manufacturing and business techniques to enhance their competitive edge. TechSolve looked strategically at their organizational structure, their process/flow system, and project management system to address their needs.

TechSolve engineers worked with management and employees to develop a new organizational structure, which included eliminating non-value-added activities in customer service to reduce lead times and minimize redundancy. Individual project leaders were replaced with project management teams to maximize P|I Global’s new organizational structure.

Due to its market growth, P|I Global utilized TechSolves structured approach to evaluate their future space requirements. Based on TechSolve’s recommendations,
management decided that building a new facility would best serve the company’s growth needs. TechSolve’s engineers incorporated Lean principles into the design and layout of the new facility. The new plant layout incorporated Lean concepts such as flow, point-of-use storage, cells, and high cube utilization in warehouse operations. The manufacturing and organizational efficiencies created through this process has yielded satisfying results throughout the years.

Results: TechSolve’s implementation resulted in:

  • $304,000 savings from improvements in order processing and production layout
  • 20% reduction in square footage requirements (50,000 square feet)
  • $1M in projected increased sales
  • $100,000 in projected labor savings through the elimination of overtime
  • Job creation
