NIST MEP
The NIST Hollings Manufacturing Extension Partnership started in 1989 with centers in three states: South Carolina, New York, and Ohio. Today, NIST Hollings MEP is a national network of affiliated manufacturing extension centers and field offices serving small manufacturers in all 50 states and Puerto Rico. These centers provide improvement consulting services to small and medium-sized manufacturers. Services include:
- Lean Manufacturing
- Six Sigma/Quality Management
- ISO & ASW Certifications
- Energy Conservation
- Pollution Prevention
- Strategic Planning
- Strategic Marketing
- New Product Development
- General Problem Solving
- Technology Transfer
- Qualification & Referral to other technology centers, community colleges, universities, government agencies, economic development organizations, etc.
The centers are linked together through the U.S. Department of Commerce’s National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) program.
