Ohio Governor DeWine visits TechSolve as part of workforce development roundtable

Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, state officials and a group of Southwest Ohio manufacturers toured TechSolve’s Technology Development Center and discussed the workforce challenges of the region and the benefits of state-sponsored programming and funding opportunities for Ohio manufacturers.

AUGUST 26, 2021 CINCINNATI, OH — Ohio Governor Mike DeWine, Lt. Governor Jon Husted, and officials from the state Departments of Development and Commerce recently met with a group of Southwest Ohio Manufacturers to discuss workforce development and understand what current the state-sponsored programs are available as well as what can be developed to meet their needs. The meeting took place at TechSolve in Cincinnati, and featured a tour of the Technology Development Center.

TechSolve is dedicated to the advancement of manufacturing through technology, and the organization serves as The Ohio Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) for Southwest Ohio, a part of the NIST MEP National Network. Through this partnership, TechSolve works with manufacturers in the seven-county region of Brown, Butler, Clermont, Clinton, Hamilton, Highland, and Warren, helping to improve productivity, growth, and global competitiveness.

In addition to state leaders, Director Lydia Mihalik of the Ohio Department of Development and Director Sheryl Maxfield of the Ohio Department of Commerce attended the roundtable. More than 16 manufacturers from Southwest Ohio and TechSolve leadership, including President and CEO David Linger, discussed the importance of the state supporting its manufacturing community.

“Outside of our core business offerings and services, we find it important to share resources and information about the programming and funding opportunities offered by the state,” said Linger. “We consider this part of our mission as an MEP Center, and the Governor, Lt. Governor and directors attending shows the significant spotlight the state of Ohio is putting on workforce development and nourishing manufacturing in the region.”

The MEP is a public-private partnership formed to enhance the productivity and technological performance of U.S. manufacturing. The MEP National Network includes 51 MEP Centers located in all 50 states and Puerto Rico, and features more than 1,300 manufacturing experts and 400 service locations. The network provides any U.S. or Puerto Rican manufacturer with access to resources they need to grow their business.
