Jonathan Theders

CEO of RiskSOURCE

Jonathan is the CEO of RiskSOURCE Clark-Theders, a Cincinnati based firm with an additional office in Knoxville, TN, focused on risk management and insurance solutions for business and personal clients. Celebrating over 40 years and founded on guidance, service, and trust, Jonathan is a second-generation leader. He believes that insurance alone is never enough and works hard to be an outsourced risk manager for clients and deliver beyond insurance approaches to their risk.

He serves the community in many capacities and is founder of the RiskSOURCE Cares program, a dedicated community outreach and employee enrichment program.

Jonathan graduated from Eastern Kentucky University with a BS degree in Insurance and Risk Management with a minor in General Business. Jonathan and his wife, Heather, are the proud parents of two daughters, Lily and Olivia. He enjoys golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family.

Shawn Waldman

CEO of Secure Cyber Defense

Shawn is the founder and CEO of Secure Cyber Defense LLC located in Miamisburg, Ohio. He is a 20-year IT veteran and previously served in law enforcement. Secure Cyber Defense assists organizations in protecting assets from internal and external threats and aligning cybersecurity strategy with consumer needs. The company offers services, tools, and support for business by analyzing and monitoring digital environments for anomalies with cutting-edge solutions to identify, stop, and prevent cyber threats. Utilizing vulnerability assessments, intrusion prevention, and continuous monitoring services, they scale custom solutions to any size organization or budget.

For five years, Shawn was deeply involved with the FBI’s Criminal Justice Information System compliance framework, and ultimately wrote the compliance-training curriculum for other agencies and vendors. Shawn and his company have provided expertise to clients in the law enforcement, government, healthcare, and financial services industries, helping them protect sensitive company and consumer data against outside threats.

Shawn is a subject matter expert when it comes to FBI criminal justice compliance and speaks across the country on various topics related to cybersecurity and threat detection. Currently, Shawn’s speaking, training, and writing expertise on cyber-related issues are in high demand.

MxD Cybersecurity Tech Demonstration

Laura Elan, Senior Director of Cybersecurity for MxD Cyber

MxD’s Cybersecurity Roadshow dives into deployable tactics that SMMs can use to reduce cyber risk in their supply chains. Attendees will be guided through the various cybersecurity standards and frameworks currently in place (such as NIST CSF/DFARS/CMMC) with an emphasis on addressing the unique challenges that the manufacturing sector faces when adhering to these standards. The program will include a live demonstration of multiple cyber-attacks that are common in an industrial environment, coupled with actions that manufacturers can take to mitigate these risks and appropriately respond when they happen.

Laura Élan

Senior Director of Cybersecurity for MxD Cyber

Laura Élan is the Senior Director of Cybersecurity for MxD Cyber: The National Center for Cybersecurity in Manufacturing. In her role, she will support MxD’s cybersecurity projects and initiatives in support of the annual Strategic Investment Plan and will lead MxD’s Cybersecurity Steering Committee.

Prior to joining MxD in 2021, Laura was responsible for Baxter Healthcare’s regulatory strategy for medical software, cybersecurity, interoperability, and AI/ML enabled software. Laura completed her undergraduate work in Electrical Engineering at the University of Illinois - Urbana. She holds a Master of Science in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology, Chicago, Illinois. She is a licensed Professional Engineer in the State of Illinois and holds the RAC credential from the Regulatory Affairs Professionals Society. In her free time, Laura is a performing musician and improv artist.
